Saltwater Marshes Zone 8

Shallow, saline areas covered with emergent grasses and rushes. Soils consist of silt, muck, mud, marl and other sedimentary materials. Brackish tidal flows alternately drain and flood this community. Plants require constantly moist soil, tolerate flooding and high salinity, and thrive on the abundance of nutrients brought by tides.
